Winchester includes a unique, second story observatory perfect for a reading nook or a relaxing hide-out.
Each plan set is drawn at 1/4"=1' scale and includes the following drawings:
Artist's Rendering: An artist's drawing of the home, usually viewed from the front, and general construction notes.
Elevations: Shows the front, sides, and rear, including exterior materials, trim sizes, roof pitches, etc.
Main Floor Plan: Shows placement and dimensions of walls, doors, & windows. Includes the location of appliances, plumbing fixtures, beams, ceiling heights, etc.
Second Floor Plan (if any): Shows the second floor in the same detail as the main floor. Includes second floor framing and details.
Foundation Plan: Shows the location of all concrete footings, floor beams, first floor framing, and foundation details. If there is a basement, a basement plan is included which shows all basement details.
Floor Framing Plan (if any): Shows location and spacing of floor joists and supporting walls or beams.
Roof Framing Plan: Shows roof outlines, conventional framing/trusses, beams, roof framing details, etc.
Section & Details: Shows a cross-section of the home. Shows support members, exterior and interior materials, insulation, and foundation. Specific details such as fireplaces, stairways, decks, etc. are drawn at 1/2" = 1' scale, and appear as needed throughout the prints.
Electrical Plan: A schematic layout of all lighting, switches and electrical outlets.
Rich expanses of windows in the split level Cape Cod style Winchester make this home well suited to watching the sunset, enjoy forest views or watch lakeside wildlife.
Windows wrap around three angles of a comfy observatory, perched at the highest point of this home. Add bookshelves and this lofty hide-away could function as a library. Add a futon it turns into a compact and one of a kind sleeping space.
A vaulted bedroom with private bathroom can be found on another level. Living areas, which includes a great room, sunroom, and partially covered front porch are half a flight down, and a one-car garage is on the ground level. Columns trim the garage door, adding visual appeal.
Glass double doors open to a deck out of the bedroom, amenities here include his-and-her closets and a private bath with two vanities, an extra-large shower, and private toilet. Another bathroom, with an adjacent utility room and sauna, is close to the great room.
By day, natural light fills the sunroom. By night, it could be converted to additional sleeping space when needed.
Created as a vacation home plan, this could also serve as a vacation rental for additional income. Outdoorsy empty nesters might even find the Winchester plan a great design for a year around residence.
