Natural materials on the façade of the Ashton provide rustic charm to this otherwise modern cabin plan. While designed for a lot with a side view the Ashton would work just as well in an urban subdivision.
Slender posts frame the front door. Step inside and you’ll find yourself in the foyer which is designed as an airlock. This large entry has a coat closet on the left and could accommodate a chair or bench on the right. The airlock design is ideal for those living in environments with large seasonal temperature swings or homeowners’ looking for ways to maintain a consistent temperature in the open layout.
Passing through the French doors, the airlock opens to the great room. The living room is towards the front of the house and features a cozy fireplace that can also be enjoyed in the kitchen. The dining room is slightly offset from the living room and is naturally bright from windows on three walls. Along the rear wall the window is actually a sliding glass door providing access to the large covered porch. The kitchen is open to both the dining room and the living room. At its center is an island with built-in eating bar. This is an ideal location for serving up quick week day meals or snacks during larger gatherings.
A hallway off the kitchen travels passes the laundry room and ends at two bedrooms. The larger bedroom is the master suite which features a large walk-in closet and direct access to the shared full bathroom. The bathroom features dual vanities, make up counter, linen closet, private toilet, shower, and soaking tub.
In the center of the home a set of stairs leads up to another bedroom, a den plus a full bathroom. If three bedrooms are not needed, this room could be finished as a hobby, craft, or recreation room.
Back on the main floor near the foyer stairs lead down to the basement foundation. This space is unfinished and offers the homeowner the chance to personalize this level to their needs and lifestyle, whether that is additional bedrooms, a family room or hobby space.
At the top of the basement stairs, a door provides access from the main living area to the attached two car garage.
