The compact and charming Grenta Cottage is a cottage house plan that is just as well suited as a year round residence or vacation home. Steep roof lines, gable ends, and tapered columns add to the homes curb appeal.
The cozy front porch is just large enough for a porch swing or set of outdoor chairs, making it an ideal place to relax and watch the world go by. The front door is recessed to provided additional protection from the elements to guests and privacy to the homeowners. The entry is inviting and spacious. To the left, a cased opening leads to a short hall to one of two bedrooms in this floor plan plus a full bathroom. The bedroom has a walk-in closet and can be used as a den or hobby room if the additional bedroom is not needed. Alternatively, the designer has also provided an alternate floor plan option that would convert the second bedroom into a formal dining room while modifying the full bathroom to a powder bath and extending the walk-in pantry to a butler’s pantry.
Towards the end of the entry hall, an opening to the right leads to the mud hall. Outfitted with a drop zone for electronics and a coat closet, the mud hall also has access to the laundry room and attached two car garage.
At the end of the entry hall, the floor plan opens up to the great room. To the left, is the kitchen which boasts an island with eating bar along with a walk-in pantry. The kitchen is completely open to the dining and living areas. The living room features a fireplace which will serve to keep the great room warm and cozy in the colder winter months.
Off the great room, a hallway leads to the owners’ suite. A set of French Doors lead to the owners’ suite private bathroom with walk-in shower, dual vanities, private toilet and walk-in closet.
At only 40’ wide, the Grenta Cottage is an ideal narrow lot house plan to consider when building on compact city lots.
